Spotlight Golfer
David Jaworski

Dave is a great asset to our community and let's all congratulate him as " Spotlight Golfer" for the third Quarter of 2016.
Dave was born and raised in South Bend, In., the same as Gentleman Eagle Jim Golomb and Hawley Rogers. He lived there 21 long winters, and hated shoveling snow or cutting the grass. Instead he was out riding his bike to go play any sport that was in season.
During high school he played for the " Bleeding Kidneys" intramural basketball team, was editor of his senior year yearbook, and received way too many awards for studying so much- yeah, right! And he was always too shy to dance at those stupid dances in the gym!
He went on to attend the University of Notre Dame and Majored in Spanish and Latin American Studies, with a Minor in Education. Dave thought about becoming a teacher but then found out what the pay was! Besides spending much of his time in the library, he managed to play a little handball ( placed 2nd his senior year ) and played a few holes at the on campus golf course. He was a foreign exchange student in Cali, Colombia, and Mexico City for a year, where he was the biggest gringo around! His senior year, Dave managed to take all his classes at St. Mary's College across the street, where, in no particular order, the food was better and so were the girls! Notre Dame was not yet coed!
Next was Thunderbird Grad School of International Management in the then cotton fields of Glendale, Az., where he earned his Masters in International Marketing and played a few holes on the desert courses.
Dave has lived in the greater Daytona area for the past 29 years, during which he made his career in Wholesale Mortgage Banking. At last count, he worked for 8 different banking firms, who kept buying each other out and trading names. It was a good thing they didn't become too greedy because otherwise they would have been bailed out!
So in 2012 Dave said Adios to the banks and became a teacher after all, a substitute teacher in the Flagler County school system, where he babysat the kids with their cell phones and I Pads and pods. One day he was in the Hammock Dunes pro shop, where he met Karen, who was working behind the desk. A member came in and asked her if his driver was there yet, and after looking out the window, she answered him by saying " I haven't seen him"! He knows he fell in love with her then!
Karen and Dave have been married for 2 years, haved lived in Creekside for just under that, and really enjoy living here! Dave knows this is the best club and MGA he has belonged to- the membership and staff are excellent!
After 4 lifetime holes in one, and shooting 69 on three separate occasions at Plantation Bay, Dave's still honing his game with the MGA and the "Freaky Friday" group.
He was honored to be named Tournament Chairman for the MGA, taking over from his good friend Larry Geiser.
Dave will be looking for any new ideas for future games.
