Greg Wynn
Although Greg was born in Pittsburgh, Pa. on Friday, July 13, at 3:13am (hence his “lucky number” being 13), he spent his early life in Oakland, Ca. and Miami, Fl. His family relocated to Arlington, Va., where he spent most of his formative years.
He attended Washington-Lee High School where he enjoyed success as an athlete. He played football and was named first team all metropolitan tight end. This earned him a football scholarship to the University of Tennessee. However, his first love was crew. As a member of the Varsity Eight-oared shell they achieved first place three years running as National Schoolboy Champions. Arlington County raised enough money to send the crew to participate in the Royal Henley Regatta in Henley, England in 1962.
Greg married at age sixteen, went to Tennessee as a married student athlete, and had two daughters while there. Although he gave up football, he remained in school and achieved a B.S. in Industrial Management.
Upon graduation he went to work for Blue Bell Manufacturing and over the next eight years he rose through the ranks while living in Alabama (where daughter number three was born), Puerto Rico, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Scotland.
Greg left Blue Bell, moved to Orlando and became involved with financial planning working for Merrill Lynch. From there he moved to Ormond Beach where he spent the next 40 years building his own practice. He brought all three daughters into the practice, which they took over when he retired. They are currently the Wynn Financial Group with Ameriprise Financial in Daytona, Beach.
Greg and his partner Diane, live in Flagler Beach. They joined Grand Haven in 2020 and have found the club to be the perfect fit. They both enjoy the course and find the members to be friendly and gracious. Greg’s passion is golf and finds it interesting his parents named him Gregory Norman.
