William "Bob" Davidson
Bob was born and raised in Dayton, Ohio. He is the son of a World War II veteran who was born in Big Stone Gap, Virginia and joined the Army at the age of seventeen. His dad didn't talk much about the war, but he knew he served some of his time, in the Japanese held Philippine Islands. Once the war was over, he married Bob's mother and they moved to Dayton Ohio, to find employment. His father struggled after the war and had a hard time keeping a job. He probably had Post Traumatic Syndrome (PTSD) but didn't know it at the time.
Bob met his future wife, Linda Music, who lived across the street from him in 1962, the summer before high school started. They both attended Meadowdale High School where they became engaged at Senior Prom. After graduation in 1966, they both found full time employment, got married and started raising a family. They have two daughters, six grandchildren and three great grandchildren with more to come.
In 1969, Bob joined the Dayton Ohio Police Academy where he was able to attend Sinclair College, under a Federal Law Enforcement Grant. Two weeks before graduation, one of his academy classmates who was doing field training, was killed in the line of duty. He was Bob's age, 21 years old. During the late 60's and early 70's, Dayton had one of the highest homicide rates per capita in the country. Before he left the department, three additional officers were killed in the line of duty. Police work was quite a learning experience. It helps you learn how to deal with people and handle tense situations.
On a lighter note, he investigated a theft and recovered $50,000.00 dollars from Larry Flint's home, (Hustler Magazine). he was offered a reward which he could not accept. However, Mr. Flint did help to sponsor the Police Softball Team.
In 2015, Linda and Bob moved to Palm Coast, where they built a home on the Inter coastal River, in Palm Coast Plantation.
In 2021, he retired from the Board of Directors and started spending more time with Linda and friends. " It's really nice to get up or go to bed whenever you want. It's the first time that I have not worked since I was 15 years old. Time to slow down a bit."
When they moved to Palm Coast, he played public golf courses with Bobby Deal. Four years ago, he Joined the Grand Haven Golf Club. Shortly thereafter, he met his golfing buddies, Joe Dresnok and Dick Boulds. he now spends four to five days a week on the golf course.
According to Bob, Linda and Bob have had an exciting life. They have made lifelong friends in seven different states. Have lived in places and met people that they never dreamed of getting to know. "Linda is my best friend and I have been blessed since the day she agreed to marry me."
